Summary: This position will start as a temporary position and after proved skilled hired as a Children's Health employee.

Responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic and aesthetically pleasing care environment. Provide corrective cleansing action for rooms and public areas while engaged in contact with staff, visitors, patients and patient's families as needed. Contact may include physical, psychological, educational and safety related and should be appropriate to the specific demographics of patients served in assigned service areas. Responsible for timely cleaning of rooms, floors in corridors and other assigned areas to meet established cleanliness and infection control standards. EVS Floor Tech is to ensure cleansing standards are according to the Association for Health Care Environment (AHE) publication Practice Guidance for Health Care Environmental Cleaning policies as the EVS Tech 1 is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention and patient experience.

Responsibilities:

* Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting. Complete special cleaning projects such as carpet cleaning / shampooing, carpet extraction, floor finish removal and application, wall washing and other similar duties such as cleaning stairwell and elevators and hanging of curtains.

* Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety.

* Inspect equipment used and clean and maintain to ensure proper functioning; have repairs made as needed.

* Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures; remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).

* Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions where and if required and proper use of personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).

* Record daily housekeeping activities for assigned area; record daily requests for maintenance in assigned area.

* Occasionally complete routine cleaning functions in assigned area following established schedules and using prescribed methods. Duties may include, but are not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, gathering and disposing of trash and waste materials, removing linens, cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and / or patient rooms, cleaning and disinfecting fixtures, wet mopping and other similar duties.

* Utilize bed tracking system to identify cleaning needs; respond to pager or overhead pages, and respond and assist on emergency spills.

WORK EXPERIENCE

* Less than 1 year required and at least 1 year previous housekeeping experience preferred

* Less than 1 year demonstrated effective use of computers and/or movable devices for job performance activities preferred

EDUCATION

* High school diploma or GED preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

* The Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE): Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred preferred
