JOB TITLE: LAUNDRY and HOUSEKEEPING AIDE

REPORTS TO: LAUNDRY SUPERVISOR

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for cleaning and servicing assigned areas. Willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis as assigned by the Housekeeping / Laundry Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum, high school diploma or equivalent

Previous cleaning experience in a long term care / skilled nursing facility setting preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To assure resident safety.

Assembles materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to the work area

Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease

Uses damp, disinfectant-treated cloths and vacuum cleaner to dust window sills, blinds, floors, furniture, and equipment in an orderly fashion

Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors, and similar equipment

Replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items

Requests help in moving heavy furniture and in turning mattresses; reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions observed in assigned area to supervisor

Washes walls and ceilings using water, cleaning solutions, sponge, and cloths

Gathers and disposes of trash, washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers, and relines with plastic bags

Removes soiled linen from all areas

Collect soiled laundry

Sort laundry, wash, and routine finishing tasks (folding, spreading, ironing, stacking, etc.)

This department allows for interchanging of jobs to relieve monotony and maintain work flow

Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests

Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations

Use appropriate work place behavior and adhere to dress code at all times

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to withstand long periods of standing, walking, bending and/or stooping; lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects from 10 to 50 pounds; ability to operate vacuums and other cleaning appliances; visual acumen required for inspections and recognition of hazards

WORK SCHEUDLE:

As assigned, including some weekends, evenings and holidays; non-exempt position
