Job Description:

Santa Monica Proper Hotel is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Manager to join our team.

A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 267-room luxury property features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, the Housekeeping Manager oversees housekeeping functions and staff daily to ensure hotel guest rooms, public spaces and employee areas are clean and well-maintained. In this role, you will direct and partner with the Housekeeping team to successfully execute all housekeeping operations. Our ideal candidate will work to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing the financial performance of the department.

Job Overview:

  • Establish effective and clear guidelines ensuring housekeeping team understands expectations and parameters
  • Ensure guest rooms and all accommodations, public areas and colleague areas are cleaned according to brand standards
  • Create, maintain and ensure compliance with all housekeeping standards and procedures
  • Assist with purchasing supplies, inventory controls, supplies, chemicals and equipment
  • Direct associates to strive for continuous improvement and excellence in all areas of responsibility
  • Adhere to an effective inspection program including rooms, public areas, associate work areas, storage areas and laundry areas
  • Understand and communicate to colleagues the operating and maintenance procedures of all departmental equipment
  • Effectively respond to and handle guest problems and complaints

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar role in a luxury or lifestyle hotel
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent organization & time management skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Flexible schedule; willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

Education: Bachelors degree preferred
