Duke Regional Hospital is the second largest of Duke Health's three hospitals and offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight-loss surgery, women's services, and heart and vascular services.Work Location: Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, North CarolinaWork Hours: 2nd ShiftGeneral SummaryThe Environmental Services Operations Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the operational needs of Hospital Environmental Services. This position will coordinate the tasks of the front-line staff and serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments to provide the highest possible level of service. This position will be responsible for managing a staff of up to 25 EVS employees.Work PerformedWork collaboratively with hospital units to ensure client needs are met.Establish and annually review standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff.Plan work and staffing schedules and areas of work to ensure adequate services are rendered.Interview, hire, and train new associates.Orient, develop, and supervise all supervisory/housekeeping staff.Conduct regular inspections and make changes and recommendations to the facility.Monthly reporting of goals, accomplishments, and future plans.Staff education and training.Communication with staff, administration, and other departments.Coordination of outside services (i.e., Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical and Solid Waste, Document Destruction, and Recycling program).Proactive in the achievement of facility goals and objectives.Frequent rounding to ensure cleanliness of facility.Timely and accurate implementation of Tru-D.Ensure accurate and timely payroll for staff.Completion of staff evaluations.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data. Excellent interpersonal skills. High customer service and quality attitude. Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives. Public speaking skills. Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements. Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations. Ability to multi-task and establish priorities. Ability to maintain organization in a changing and stressful environment. Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership. Plan and conduct meetings with departmental employees to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.Minimum QualificationsEducationWork requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of an associate's degree program.ExperienceWork requires knowledge of environmental service functions normally acquired through three years of progressive experience in environmental services or related supervisory, administrative, management experience in a service or similar environment. At least one year of supervisory experience in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contact required. Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Military transferable skills: Non-Commissioned Officer E4+ with experience in planning, developing, and directing logistics.
