Position SummaryPosition is responsible for the assuring the performance of the housekeeping staff is meeting University standards. Position shall also provide periodic inspections of the staff and the areas of the building that the housekeepers provide service to residents and staff.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities- Position is responsible for daily evaluation and monitoring of 10-15 housekeepers to assure housekeeping standards are being met.
- Additionally position is responsible for making sure compliance to rules and regulations of the University is adhered to by all housekeepers and communicating and documenting all concerns to housekeeping management if housekeepers do not adhere to policy.
- Position shall provide training as and when cleaning standards fall below acceptable levels.
- Position is responsible for beginning most of the progressive disciplinary action processes (verbal warning) when necessary.
- Responsible for bi-weekly housekeeper inspections to help in monitoring performance of the housekeeper and also is responsible for bi-weekly furniture assessments and arrangements to ensure that furniture and fixtures of any residential building are consistent with the level of the excellent standards the University strives to maintain.
- Weekly communication with other housekeeping supervisors, Residential College Directors and Housing Services Management is crucial so concerns with a housekeeping assignment that spans more than one zone, a concern within a building involving a resident or a concern dealing with a housekeeper or supplies and equipment within any residential building can be addressed proactively.
- Position will need to work flexible hours (late evening or early morning hours) depending on the zone they supervise, work a rotating weekend schedule during the year and perform other office duties, including but not limited to opening the office for the day, assigning work assignments and closing the office at the end of a shift whenever management is not present.
- Report all maintenance issues that are observed within the resident areas by calling the Residential Life Center or Facilities customer service; follow up on these issues to assure they are handled within a reasonable length of time; report any suspicious person to Campus Police; follow the rules and regulations of Washington University-St. Louis; maintain a valid driver's license at all times in the event you will need to drive the Residential Life Center owned truck.

Preferred Qualifications- Excellent interpersonal skills is a must; a service-oriented person that is a team player and can work well with others to maintain specific goals.
- Candidate must be capable of displaying excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Experience working with personal computers with software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and strong knowledge of copy/scan/facsimile machines.
- Self-motivated person that can take direction however works independently and strives to achieve very high personal and departmental standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
- Three years of housekeeping experience within the university; or five years of experience with at least two years of experience as a supervisor within the hospitality industry with preference towards experience in housekeeping at a five star hotel property.
- Valid Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D Driver's license.
- Good driving record.
GradeG07-HSalary Range$19.29 - $29.91 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
