Houseparent (Marie Younts)
Primary Purpose: To work closely in a collaborative team environment with ministry components (Circle of Healing), to help produce a whole and complete child. Areas include: Family Ministry, Education, Social Workers/Counselors, Recreation/Health/Nutrition/Medical, Church/Pastor/Spiritual Growth, and Higher Education/Independent Living. The Houseparent is responsible for helping heal the child's home life, structure, and nurturing needs.
Essential Functions:
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Circle of Healing Team to provide for the needs of children in care
- Utilize passion of self and co-workers in the Circle of Healing, to help Connie Maxwell children find their dreams (individualized approach)
- Provide oversight and care to children in the cottage
- Develop and maintain cottage routines
- Perform transportation for youth within cottage or team
- Ability to cook and prepare meals
- Provide a secure, nurturing environment for children in care
- Foster positive relationships with children and increased positive behaviors with adults and peers
- Provide appropriate guidance and discipline to children
- Guide and nurture the Christian development of children
- Teach children necessary, age-appropriate life skills
- Represent a family-centered philosophy
- Continue development of personal and professional mental hygiene, including job skills and knowledge
- Support Connie Maxwell goals
- Works toward achieving yearly Gold Star list
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required; College degree preferred
- Experience in working with children in church, school, own home or related area is required; Experience in the childcare field is preferred
- Basic knowledge of home management skills is required
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Possesses strong supervisory and parenting skills
- Basic understanding of child development and the effects of pain, loss, and trauma on children
- Ability to set expectations that are reasonable and within the ability of the child
- Ability to implement Behavior Support Plans
- Ability to teach life skills and relational skills to children
- Is dependable, accessible, available, and adaptable
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions
- Energetic and enthusiastic in work
- Takes initiative and able to make decisions
- Ability to work under stress
- Valid driver's license and insurable by CMCM auto insurance carrier
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification

Work Conditions:
- Involves working a flexible work schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off (living on-campus and working with the students in care for the 7 days on shift)
- Involves walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
