The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA. A River Valley Head Quarter Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing the business within assigned accounts and categories. This role involves managing a portfolio of accounts, vendors, understanding customer needs, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional solutions. The HQ Manager is responsible for customer satisfaction, driving revenue growth, and contributing to the overall success of the organization. Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops a solid and trusting relationship between key account(s) and company
- Develops a solid and trusting relationship with our supplier & broker community to develop and execute customer-focused programs
- Collaborates with sourcing team to identify and negotiate new product offerings that will profitably grow the business
- Responsible for setting customer pricing within margin parameters
- Responsible for developing and managing promotional programs for key accounts
- Monitors execution of new item launches and account distros
- Identifies slow moving items within assigned account and determine proper plans going forward to mitigate company shrink and exposures
- Collaborates with purchasing dept to forecast movement for new & existing items
- Provides competitive market analysis to increase sales penetration and protect margins and market share within assigned accounts / categories
- Monitors vendor performance within assigned accounts / categories to identify issues and correct them within a timely manner
- Manages vendor / customer margins monthly and corrects issues as they arise
- Manages price increases to assigned accounts and ensure that they are properly executed
- Leads by example to motivate and inspire support team toward achieving strong sales results
- Establishes and oversees an annual budget for assigned accounts / vendors / categories
- Attend trade shows to network with new and existing vendors
- Perform additional responsibilities as required
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of supermarket chain sales experience and/or 5 years in a support role
- Passionate about trending foods, wellness products, and how to effectively use them
- Dedicated, passionate, self-motivator who works well independently as well as with a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person
- Strong negotiation skills, with ability to follow-through and get results
- Ability to anticipate and creatively troubleshoot account issues & opportunities
- Ability to analyze, forecast and project sales plans based on historical data and business trends
- Detail-oriented with excellent project management skills
- Ability to multi-task amongst several high-pressure priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point
Salary Information:
- Salary Range: $52,000 - $85,000 per year
- Annual Bonus: 10%
