Located in eleven states with more than 65 locations in operation or under development, Pet Paradise continues to expand in the United States.Pet Paradise is seeking a dynamic HR Advisor to join our Human Resources team as a trusted partner, providing HR guidance and support to business leaders and associates. This role will help foster high engagement, increase performance, and alignment with Pet Paradise's core values. The ideal candidate will bring strong HR technical expertise, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to serving as a cultural steward and advisor for associates and leadership. The HR Advisor will partner closely with other members of the HR team but also be able to work independently, with strong organization and interpersonal skills.Essential Functions of the HR Advisor include:
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with regional and resort leadership to provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance in aligning associates with HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with regional and resort leadership to design and implement policies and programs that drive higher performance, foster employee engagement, and support organizational goals.
  • Act as a consultant to regional and resort leadership with associate progressive discipline process/employee relations issues and provide support on corrective action to ensure proper procedures and documentation are followed.
  • Support managers in determining appropriate disciplinary actions and resolving employee conflicts, ensuring that decisions are well-documented, consistent, and free from arbitrary or discriminatory practices.
  • Manage employee investigations and partner with the HR Director/Legal to review and approve terminations, ensuring thorough risk assessment and compliance with company policy.
  • Partner with leaders on talent reviews and succession planning. Identify readiness and assist in the implementation of development plans.
  • Assist in the interactive process for ADA accommodations, including reviewing requests, and ensuring compliance with FMLA, PWFA, and ADA regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support in the performance review process and other key people processes.
  • Collaborate with the Training & Learning team to deliver engaging and effective training on HR policies, compliance, and leadership development, fostering continuous learning and skill-building across the organization.
  • Assist in administering annual engagement surveys, and coach and partner with resort leadership to effectively execute action plans to increase employee engagement.
  • Conduct exit and check-in interviews with resort leaders; share feedback and trends with regional leaders.
  • Analyze location turnover and other key HR/business metrics as needed. Partner with regional and resort leadership on retention initiatives.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the database as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret HR metrics and recommend solutions to improve workplace trends.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, with 5+ years relevant experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar role; multi-state hospitality, Manufacturing, or retail industry preferred.
  • Proven experience in a consultative HR role, providing guidance to internal or external clients and business units.
  • PHR or SHRM CP certification preferred.
  • Proficient with HR tools such as applicant tracking systems (ATS), onboarding, and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 20% of travel across resort locations).
  • Initiative-taker who thrives in an extremely fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that display professionalism and confidence.
  • Experience delivering training and presentations (live and webinar formats) to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven abilities in leadership, influence, and relationship-building across teams and functions.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with HRIS systems and ability to compile reports.
