Job Description:
As the HR Generalist, you will support all HR activities and provide business partner consultation at one of our larger bakeries in the US. The plant is 350k sq. ft. and operates 8 highly automated production lines. At this plant, we produce cookies for multiple customers, including the Girl Scouts,Kroger, Walmart and many others. Our site has two unions, the BCTGM and the Teamsters.At Hearthside, we are building a culture of success, and it depends on our people striving for greatness and having the courage and commitment to getting better every day.Scope:* Oversee the hourly staffing process by recruiting, interviewing, background/drug testing, and extending job offers to applicants.* Manage the site's relationship and communications with third-party staffing agencies.* Play an active role in new hire orientations.* Process and track employee I9's ensuring regulatory compliance.* Utilize Ceridian as the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and input all new hire information into the system.* Interpret and explain company policies, and ensure the site is in compliance and consistent with policies.* Manage employee leave programs to include FMLA, personal LOA, medical LOA, and bereavement.* Handles any Unemployment inquiries, or hearings that require local involvement.* Operate as a backup to the Payroll Coordinator for bi-weekly payroll processing. Partner with supervisors to ensure timecards are reviewed and approved.* Assisting in keeping current EEO/AAP reports, attendance, disciplinary summary reports, turnover analysis, and analyze other metrics using HRIS systems.* Addressing employee relations concerns in partnership with HR Manager, supervisors and managers to include investigating complaints, and resolving grievances.* Assist with broader human capital projects to include the annual employee engagement survey and benefits open enrollment.Education:* A minimum of bachelor's degree from accredited University or College; or experience equivalence in Human Resources.* PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.Skills and Ability requirements:* 3 or more years of HR Generalist experience preferred.* Must have knowledge and understanding of employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, COBRA/HIPPA and others.* Union, multi-cultural production/manufacturing environment experience is preferred.* Must be able to organize and prioritize the workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal direction.* Possess solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to adapt well to change.* Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office applications.* Ability to work closely with others in a cross-functional team atmosphere.* Flexibility to work off shift hours when needed to support the bakery needs.* Knowledge and experience HRIS systems, Time and Attendance System, MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point) and Ceridian a plus* Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local employment laws* Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, ability to be flexible in constantly changing work environment.Ability to:* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing* Successfully multi-task and juggle multiple priorities with varying timelines* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a team* Ensure positive and collaborative relationships with others.* Lead 'best in class' behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy application* Ability to deescalate situations and take a non-confrontational approach to resolving them* Work effectively with all levels of the organization* Meet timelines and drive results appropriately and professionallyProficiency in:* MS Office Suite, Ceridian, and Excel.Work Environment:* Work is primarily done in an office setting.Physical Requirements:* Sitting at a workstation for extended periods of time* Standing, walking, and climbing stairs on an infrequent basis* Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally#LI-EO1Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Downers Grove, IL we are a world-class contract manufacturer producing wholesome baked goods, snacks and packaged foods for many of the world's leading food companies.
