Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionHistory:Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:The HR Generalist performs human resources related duties at the professional level to implement daily activities and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers in assigned areas including but not limited to: recruitment/selection, employee onboarding, new employee orientation, compensation, employee benefits, HRIS, and implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Martin County Hospital District.JOB DUTIES:Enters payroll, benefits, and related data into computer systems accurately by entering data, processing transactions, validating data, and compiling documentation for reports.Responsible for the coordination and completion of health insurance compliance for the ACA.Checks documents for validity and accuracy of information; performs mathematical calculations; records, files and distributes related paperwork and documents.Reconciles transactions and records according to policies; reviews payroll records and corrects errors as required; assures the accuracy of the payroll and benefits records.Posts open positions on hospital website, recruitment and social media sites.Monitors job applications and ensures that viable candidates are contacted timely.Completes employment offers, onboarding process.Conducts new employee orientation and training.Ensures contract staff are compliant with all licensure/documentation requirements.Source verifies required licenses and certifications; sends appropriate reminders and notifications.Compiles and maintains employee files and electronic records to ensure completeness and accuracy.Assures all reports and paperwork are completed in a timely manner; updates, corrects, retrieves, and releases information according to procedures.Responds to employee inquiries in timely manner regarding payroll and benefits information and trouble-shoots in an attempt to resolve employee payroll and benefits concerns.Manages manual entries with benefits website for all vendors in the group plan.Processes enrollment emails and tracks enrollments of new hires and rehires.Processes retirement plan enrollments for those newly eligible for the benefit.Assures compliance with COBRA guidelines by monitoring and processing benefits separations in a timely manner so notification can be made to Paylocity for COBRA processing.Assists employees with applications for FMLA and disability.Reviews electronic benefit enrollment information for accuracy and coordinates enrollment and other processing requirements with third party administrators in a timely and efficient manner.Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical and dental; retirement and PTO.Verifies the calculation of the monthly premiums statements for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives.Assists HR Director with special projects and employee relations.Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree in human resources, business, accounting or related field preferred; HR certification preferred.Two years of work experience (preferably in a hospital setting) relevant to the assignment of work.PLANNING/ORGANIZATION:Consistently operates within hospital policy and procedures.Organizes time and sets priorities to accomplish work load.Completes reports and records as required and/or requested by upper management.Maintains an organized and clean work area to ensure general safety.PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain competence.Annually completes all required in-service and training:PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position requires intermittent walking, sitting, and standing.
