Job Description:
Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist will report to the HR Manager and have a dotted reporting line to the Site Leader supporting the Charleston, WV site. This position will hold both administrative and strategic responsibilities while driving key functions including talent attraction/acquisition, training and development, associate engagement, performance management, Environmental, Health, and Safety support, and systems/file administration. This position will also coordinate and drive various company initiatives such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, philanthropy, and our Intellectual Capital process. It's imperative this position demonstrates a high-level of integrity, builds trust with the team, and has a pro-active approach to helping associates.Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
  • Serves as first line of contact for associates regarding questions or concerns.
  • Works closely with third party administrators to troubleshoot benefits related concerns.
  • Owns the recruiting process including:
    • Works to identify qualified candidates through online postings, approved recruiters, and other sourcing strategies.
    • Follows through on all resumes and applications received for posted positions to ensure that proper correspondence is sent to applicants. Maintains resume and application database.
    • Coordinates all activities required during recruiting and interviewing process including HR screens, Manager screens, Big 5 administration, CIDS, 1 over 1, and offer letters.
    • Requests and completes all preemployment paperwork including background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks.
  • Coordinates associate relations issues with Human Resources Manager to ensure prompt and appropriate resolution.
  • Advocates for associates by resolving conflict and seeking win-win solutions, promoting positive and effective associate relations.
  • Supports the site in all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and programs.
  • Facilitates site philanthropy activities including scheduling, attracting volunteers, etc.
  • Performs new associate orientation to foster positive environment.
  • Ensures all new associate paperwork is processed and follows through to ensure that all systems are updated accurately (ADP, PeopleSoft, etc.).
  • Handles requests for verifications of mortgage, employment, benefits, and other employment information.
  • Maintains files, forms and database information associated with personnel, benefits, general information, and recruiting.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports that reflect headcount, new hires, terminations, turnover rates and any other reports as required.
  • Updates and maintains Human Resource Policies, Procedures Manual, and Associate Handbook. Ensures that revisions are distributed to appropriate staff members/associates in a timely manner.
  • Routinely audits Company-owned personnel files and employment law postings for accuracy and adherence to established guidelines and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance database records in accordance with established policy.
  • Files Workers' Compensation reports.
  • Maintains OSHA logs and abides by all applicable regulations. Posts OSHA 300A logs and submits any online filings as required.
  • Maintains EEO logs and assists in preparation of AAP.
  • Coordinates communication and updates with third party Workers Compensation administrators to address and resolve all WC cases in a timely manner.
  • Assists associates with leave of absence requests and updates systems accordingly.
  • Assists the HR Manager in implementing various human resources programs and providing HR support to the site.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of recruitment & staffing practices.
  • Proficient in the use of Word and Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of Employment Laws (EEO, ADA, AA, FMLA, etc.)
  • Unimpeachable ethics.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • PHR or SPHR certification.
  • 2 - 3 years work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working experience with ADP, PeopleSoft, Workday.
  • Rolling out and enforcing HR policies and procedures.
  • Communicates well at different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to change priorities quickly.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
