The HR Generalist will serve as the primary HR point of contact, overseeing the full employee life cycle, including onboarding, offboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws across multiple states. This is a fully remote position, but the ideal candidate will have experience navigating the complexities of multi-state compliance.

With a small team of under 100 employees, including several remote-first staff across multiple states, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Generalist to manage and optimize all aspects of our human resources functions.
Description
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly in a multi-state environment.
- Develop and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with legal requirements.
- Coordinate all aspects of onboarding and offboarding, including new hire orientation, document collection, and exit interviews.
- Ensure a seamless and positive employee experience during transitions.
- Manage accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across multiple states using ADP
- Work closely with finance and external payroll providers to resolve any discrepancies.
- Oversee employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and open enrollment periods.
- Serve as a point of contact for benefits-related inquiries and liaise with vendors as needed.
- Act as a resource for employees and managers, addressing workplace issues and providing guidance on company policies and practices.
- Conduct investigations and recommend solutions for conflict resolution when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS system.
- Analyze HR metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-8+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a non-profit or multi-state environment.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and payroll platforms.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage multiple priorities.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
