LINE AND STAFF RELATIONSHIPSolely responsible to the Chief Human Resources Officer and/ or Executive Director-Human ResourcesGENERAL POSITION SUMMARYReports to the CHRO /Executive Director of Human Resources. Actively assists in the management and improvements in all areas related to Human Resource management inclusive of human resources planning and policy development, compliance ,employment, orientation and training, employee relations, benefits, HR services, and performs HR administrative related duties as assigned. Main duties center around the totality of management of benefits for the college.PRINCIPAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY* Processes all benefit-related responsibilities to include FMLA and DOL responsibilities* Counsel VP's, department heads, managers and employees on employee related issues, policies, and procedures.* Monitor workers' compensation claims and coordinates between employee and insurance carrier.* Online entries of new employee enrollments, all employee changes, and cancellations of health, dental, eye-care and worker's compensation insurances.* Collaborates between HR Director and insurance representatives for employee offered supplemental benefits, which requires producing census documents and updates.* Manages/handles walk-ins and telephone calls of HR questions, documents, and employee related counseling. This includes the interpretation of policies for supervisors and employees. Also serves as a source for advice and assistance in HR matters and concerns to faculty, staff, and key administration.* Prepares new hire employment contracts for the president's approval and signature.* Coordinates all H.R. the benefits for all new and existing employees.* Process online data entries of all employee benefit enrollments, changes and cancellations and worker's compensation insurances.* Serves as database custodian of the HR information system. Prepares, and maintain records for reporting personnel data for both internal and external use. This includes producing employee data spreadsheets requested by V.P.'s and department heads.* Responsible for the management of the HR Office in the absence of the HR CHRO/Director.* Actively assists in the management and improvements in all areas related to Human Resource Management.* All other duties as requested/assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Ability to work independently, render constructive decisions, and maintain confidentiality* Ability to manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.* Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met.* Knowledge of current State and Federal Wage, Employment Laws and HR policies and procedures.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Proficiency in MS Office.* Knowledge of Paycom, ADP and Jenzabar HR/technology platformsMINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE* Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field of study.* Three to Five years of experience in Benefit administration benefits or in the related area.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:* SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of assuming the position.MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:* All hires are subject to successful passing of drug screening and background checks* Valid SC Driver's licenseHOW TO APPLY:All applications, with a copy of transcripts and three letters of reference, should be submitted to: Executive Director-Human Resources, Benedict College, 1600 Harden Street, Columbia, South Carolina, 29204 by Tuesday, December 23, 2024
