Role - HD Internship
General Purpose of Position - Provide strategic and tactical HD solutions and support in functional areas of Human Development and must take a hands-on approach and be comfortable with all levels of employees.
Essential Functions of the RoleMaintain and foster productive working relations with the UAW as well as salaried and hourly employees:
- Train management and provide support in the interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Effectively administer Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Investigate and resolve grievance
Administer FMLA and medical leaves:
- Ensure that Federal guidelines are being met for the administration of FMLA
- Track FMLA and medical leaves. Ensure that documentation provided is sufficient to approve leaves
Payroll administration:
- Verify payroll entries and changes
- Check for accuracy and report any discrepancies to payroll administrator
Maintain and distribute, as appropriate:
- Current employee information (personnel files)
- Policy and procedure manuals
- KPI and other tracking reports
Administers EEO and Affirmative Action programs/policiesConducts employee accessions and related new hire training. Manage, track and trend hiring, termination and data reportsParticipates or leads disciplinary hearings. Ensures that employees are treated in a fair and equitable mannerActive involvement with internal customers to ensure questions and concerns are being addressed in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities as required - this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change
Academics and Experience RequirementsPHR Certification preferredBachelor's Degree in human resources or similar field (obtained or in process) or 3-5 years of Human Resources experience unionized manufacturing setting requiredProficient knowledge of FMLA and medical leave administration required Proficient knowledge of state and federal laws requiredBenefits and payroll knowledge requiredProficient with Microsoft Suite required
