Ultium Cells Overview: Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors' North American electric vehicle applications. The HR Labor Specialist supports activities related to labor relations, employee retention, employee relations, and legal/policy compliance. You will build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. This position reports to the HR Manager, ER/LR. Position Summary:
  • Administer various recognition programs to improve team member satisfaction & engagement
  • Support mediating/negotiating settlements of discrimination complaints which includes representing Company's interests.
  • Work collaboratively with legal counsel regarding legal hearings, arbitration proceedings, and internal dispute resolutions on a variety of employment issues to ensure consistency in interpretation and application of our policies.
  • Advise management, supervision, and team members on interpretation of the union contract, practices, and procedures.
  • Investigate root causes of labor relations issues and develop strategies to address/reduce them.
  • Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
  • Support equity, diversity & inclusion
  • Coordinate the activities of various departments involved in resolving employee grievances
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, or Business Administration
  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in HR/LR in a manufacturing environment; Automotive preferred
  • Union negotiation experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills in coaching, influencing, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of HR Systems and computer software application skills (i.e., Workday, ADP Workforce Now, Success Factors, etc.)
  • HR Certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM equivalent) is a plus.
