POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Leave & Accommodations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the operations, policies, and activities of the Company's HR Leave & Accommodations team and associated third-party carriers (TPA). This role in the Company will build, manage, and continually improve the disability, leave, absence, and accommodations experience for our 30,000+ outfitters in the United States. The HR Leave & Accommodation Manager will ensure that our offerings maintain legal compliance, high levels of outfitter satisfaction and alignment with the Company's strategic goals. This role will partner with various internal stakeholders including the Human Resources team, Legal, Workers' Compensation, and other areas of the business to ensure these policies and programs and all associated third-party carriers (TPA) provide a great experience for Company's outfitters in the United States. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, develop & implement, with senior leadership and our TPA, an evolved roadmap for absence and claims management, disability and accommodation programs that is legally compliant and aligned with the Company's strategic goals.
  • Establish strong partnerships within the Human Resource team, Legal, Payroll, and other areas of the business to lead cross-functional leave & accommodation initiatives.
  • Lead the team that owns the administration of the leave and accommodations policies broadly across the Company.
  • Coordinate and implement policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support Leave & Accommodations operations and compliance in partnership with the Company's TPA, internal coordination and visibility to enhance the Outfitters experience.
  • Manage carrier relationships to ensure high service levels are met.
  • Keep current knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in leaves & accommodation laws and practices and apply that knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership.
  • Has a thorough understanding of compliance and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies, communications, and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Prepare and develop communication materials and information about leave programs, procedures, and changes.
  • Independently plans and conducts work, makes decisions and recommendations within the scope of their authority, and has latitude for independent judgment, action, and initiative within established guidelines.
  • Keeps the HR Operations Director informed and brings complex or sensitive issues or problems forward for guidance or resolution.
  • Engages in regular case review sessions with the Leave & Accommodations team and HR Leaders to identify and execute strategies for resolution.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert with intricate knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws and governing regulations, including FMLA, ADA, PWFA, FLSA, HIPAA, and State leave programs.
  • Engages in the interactive accommodation process with key partners as needed, including the internal Leave & Accommodations team, HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, Legal Teams, and TPA, to identify and assess options for providing reasonable accommodations in accordance with the ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to disabilities.
  • Recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated work experience in compliance and administration of leaves under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, leaves and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, comparable state and local leave laws, and other applicable laws and statutes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop direct reports, as well as influence business partners at all levels across the Company.
  • Progressive case management and return to work experience with a proven ability to assess and produce process improvements and efficiencies that will reduce expenses, improve outfitter experience, and increase productivity.
  • Strong technical aptitude with advanced knowledge of leave and absence management systems.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to identify and resolve problems quickly.
  • Experience planning and managing carrier transition preferred.
  • Track record of successful partnership and management of external carriers such as TPA's, internal and external legal counsel and other providers.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Preferred Degree: Master's degree in human resources.
  • Certification in Leave Management and ADA programs and/or the ability to obtain such within 12-18 months on the job.
  • Experience using HCM systems; Workday is preferred.
