The HR Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Human Resources department by ensuring compliance with NY labor laws, handling employee relations, and providing excellent customer service to all employees. This role requires a strong understanding of HR functions, including benefits administration, FMLA, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting investigations, managing reports, and creating an employee engagement events calendar. Job Responsibilities: Compliance & Legal:
  • Ensure company compliance with NY labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with FMLA and other relevant employment laws.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and updating company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with the recruitment team on new hire compliance is completed
HR Functions:
  • Provide basic HR support and answer employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Assisting with administering employee benefits programs
  • Assist in the onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Utilize HRIS (preferably Paycom) to manage employee data and track HR activities.
Employee Relations:
  • Handle employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and resolving conflicts.
  • Serve as a resource for employees, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with management to address and resolve employee concerns.
Employee Engagement:
  • Develop and manage an employee engagement events calendar to foster a positive work environment.
  • Coordinate and participate in employee events and initiatives.
Other Duties:
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees and management.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed.
QualificationsQualifications: Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Knowledge of NY labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience with FMLA administration and employee benefits management.
  • Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS is a plus.
  • OPWDD experience is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
