Primary Purpose:
ATHLETIC DEPT. Assistant High School Varisty Coach
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject and level assigned preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* General knowledge of Sport and Coaching Ability to coach students and manage their behavior
* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
* At least one year of coaching or experience in the sport.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
* Be a role model; uphold school vision of nurture, character, discipline, and academic excellence.
* Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and through formal and informal testing; support students through enrichment and co-curricular instruction.
* Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
* Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
* Follow federal, state, and district policies and maintain confidentiality
* Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic records (attendance, grades, etc.) as required.
* Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
* Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
* Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
* Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
* Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
* Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
* Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
* Other duties as assigned.

* None
Working Conditions/ Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
* Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
