POSITION: HSU Workstudy Student GovernmentDEPARTMENT: Student LifeSUPERVISOR TITLE: Assistant Director for Student Services and LeadershipFLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptEXEMPTION: N/ALOCATION: AbileneTARGET HIRE DATE: 8/26/2024CONTACT INFORMATION: ...@hsutx.eduSUMMARY/SCOPE: SGA Leadership (Elected by Student Body) Themembers of the SGA Executive Council serve the student body by presenting thevoice of students to the Administration. These positions are elected and servefor one academic year. They host Senate meetings, class meetings and campusprograming. The Executive Council also provides legislature from the studentbody and presents to the Administrative Council. These roles also serve as astudent worker for the Office of Student Life. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualifications: Officers of the Executive Council shall fulfillthe same requirements as all representatives of the Student GovernmentAssociation, with the distinction that they must have attained at the time ofnomination and maintain throughout their terms of office a minimum cumulativegrade point average of two-point-five (2.5).Executive Council officers shallalso have attended Hardin-Simmons University for at least two (2) semesters.Further, the officers shall have completed thirty (30) hours of class credit bythe time they take office, except for the Student Body President and VicePresident, who shall have obtained sixty (60) hours of class credit by the sameperiod. The Student Body President must hold an Executive Council or ClassPresident position during the same school year in which they run for StudentBody President.General Duties by Position:PresidentBe a liaison between students and staff/facultyPresides over general body and executive council/class president meetingsOversees the Executive Council and Class PresidentsOversees committeesOversees Elections along with the Vice-PresidentMaintains Standing Rules and revises as neededHandles Facilities/ReservationsRequirements: Must have at least 60 hours and have held an executivecouncil or class position the previous year. Must have a 2.5 GPA.Vice-PresidentAssists the PresidentResponsible for SGA events for the student bodyRecruits speakers for meetingsOversees Elections along with the PresidentResponsible for new club/organization orientationServe on Committee's that the President is unable toRequirements: Must have at least 60 hours and at least a 2.5 GPA.TreasurerOversees the BudgetOversees purchases (handles receipts, check requests, etc.)Processes all funding requestsExecutive AdministratorTakes minutes at MeetingsKeeps AttendanceHandles all social media and advertising Correspondence with House of Representatives, Senate, and Student BodyOffice upkeep/ordering suppliesCoordinates meeting agendasChaplainResponsible for planning and leading devotionals at Student Body meetings and at executive meetings.Emailing Clubs of the week for prayer requestMaintaining the prayer boxResponsible for chapel credit opportunities for the student body through SGAClass PresidentsResponsible for one class meeting per semesterResponsible for one class service project per yearResponsible for one class event per semesterResponsible for class gift Responsible for any class fundraisersResponsible for overseeing the appropriate Senators under the Class President's jurisdictionSenior Class President is responsible for executing and presiding over Senate meetings, as well as ensuring the responsibilities of the Senators are metSenatorsResponsible for drafting and executing at least one (1) resolution per semester in accordance with the wishes of his or her constituentsResponsible for communicating with his or her constituents and representing those constituents in the SenateMust attend each Senate meeting and provide timely updates on the progress of the current resolutionRequirements for all positions: Must be a current student. Must start the semester with at least 12 hours (excluding seniors in their last semester). Must maintain a 2.5 GPA.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Current HSU StudentADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Predominantlydesk work, running meetings and other tasks assigned.Thesestudent worker roles report to the Associate Dean of Students.
