The ideal candidate will play a critical role in fostering a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, and implementing effective HR practices that align with our organizational goals.Key Responsibilities:Employee Relations:Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate discussions between employees and management.Conduct thorough investigations into employee concerns and recommend appropriate actions.Ensure all employees are informed of policies and understand their implications.Support managers in performance appraisal processes and development plans.Provide guidance on performance issues and recommend strategies for improvement.Identify training needs related to employee relations and organizational culture.Coordinate and facilitate workshops or training sessions to enhance employee engagement.Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.Maintain accurate employee records and prepare reports related to employee relations metrics.Collaborate on HR initiatives, including employee engagement activities and programs and feedback mechanisms.Participate in the design and implementation of programs to enhance workplace culture.Work closely with management and employees to promote a positive workplace culture.Foster open communication between employees and management to encourage transparency.Communicating effective to analyze problems and recommend solutions.Collaborating to build relationships with stakeholders to share information and influence change.HR Generalist:Provides day to day support and/or supervision of a complex HR operation that includes classification and compensation, benefits administration and transactions, worker's compensation, Virginia Unemployment Claims, tracking, processing and monitoring (VEC), drug & alcohol and background screening.Working in a team environment, which encourages and promotes cross-training in the various functional areas.Performs advanced-level responsibilities in the stated all functional areas of human resources to include consulting with agency management on performance and benefits administration, training and development, ADA, conflict resolution and human resource training.Serves as liaison for HR Director.Works with the Human Resource analyst/generalist staff and management to improve services provided to the employees of the Commonwealth.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to successfully perform the work:Must have strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and negotiation skills.Working knowledge of principles and practices associated with classification and compensation, benefits administration, workers' compensation processes, VSDP policy and processes, to include applicable Federal and State laws and state recruitment and hiring practices.Demonstrated ability to apply and interpret personnel policies and guidelines, analyze data present conclusions, work independently with managers, employees, and the general public, orally and in writing, and manage administrative details.Excellent customer service.Ability to set and meet stringent deadlines.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of laws impacting employee relations (e.g., Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.).Considerable experience as a Human Resources functional specialist (e.g., Employee Relations, Benefits Personnel Transactions, Disability/Workers Compensation, Classification and Compensation, Recruitment, etc.).Skilled in the use of Word Processing, Database and Spreadsheet Software.Additional ConsiderationsAdditional Consideration will be given for:Human Resource Certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP etc.)Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia Human Resource policies and procedures.Special InstructionsYou will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
