Job Title:HR GeneralistCompany : Powertrain Control SolutionsLocation : Ashland, VirginiaThe Opportunity :We are seeking an HR Generalist for our client, Powertrain Control Solutions (PCS). PCS is a growing company specializing in the engineering, development, and manufacturing of electronic control devices for military vehicles, industrial, and construction equipment industries. As they continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated HR Generalist to join their dynamic team.Position Overview:The Human Resource Generalist will manage the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department for PCS. As this is a new position for the company, the HR Generalist will work closely with a consultant in creating and establishing the HR systems needed to facilitate growth and ensure compliance.Duties/Responsibilities:Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with managers and leadership to understand skills and competencies required for openings while shepherding the process of filling open positions.Conducts staff onboarding. Processes criminal background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, and maintains I-9 files. Implements welcoming and organized new hire orientations. Handles all first-day details, including the new hire schedule, nameplates and badges, work emails, and company swag, orientation, and background checks as needed.While working with the President, plans and schedules monthly company meetings with an eye toward meaningful and informative content and creating opportunities to foster engagement and connection. Facilitates all staff-related events, including holiday celebrations, retreats, and Fun Days.Supports the President in the development of safety training, meetings, and initiatives.Researches group professional development opportunities and training, as well as investigates mentoring programs and practices. Sets up / implements training deemed to be valuable in partnership with the departmental managers and leadership.Administers insurance and retirement plans including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Reviews benefit invoices to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.Oversees time & attendance and paid leave requests for payroll. Acts as a backup for payroll with the Bookkeeper.Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with company training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to build personal relationships based on connection, trust, and credibility. Five or more years are preferred.SHRM-CP a plus.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.Benefits :Competitive compensation is commensurate with experience.
