Salary: $76,785.00 - $103,658.00 AnnuallyLocation : Chesterfield, VAJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: 25-00394Department: SheriffOpening Date: 10/28/2024Closing Date: 11/10/2024 11:59 PM EasternMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration, business administration or a related field (master's degree in a related field preferred); five years of increasingly responsible professional human resources experience to include one year of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Possession of PHR/SPHR certification, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification, or other relevant certification preferred. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources administration; of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate departmental human resources programs; to analyze and resolve difficult human resources problems, to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential personnel issues and employee situations; to provide professional guidance and direction pertaining to applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence decisions and facilitate change through collaboration and leadership. Strong analytical skills, detail and accuracy essential; self-initiative and process improvement perspective required. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited. Duties Plans, manages, and evaluates the work of a unit supporting the Sheriff Office's human resources functions for hiring and employee development. Supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of professional human resources staff. Manages the sworn and professional staff hiring processes, additional duty and promotional processes, Career Development Programs, payroll and leave administration, and the performance management system for the department. This includes program development through internal consulting, development of policy and procedure, and budget analysis. Provides career counseling and development guidance to sworn and professional staff. Advises and assists department leadership in interpretation and application of, and evaluates department compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and county HR policies and procedures. Oversees recruitment processes and affiliated procedures. Perform other work as required.
