Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Harbor Light Center (HLC) and satellite locations provide shelter, housing, and supportive services to over 300 people each night. The Human Resources Assistant provides ongoing assistance to managers and employees during an employee's lifecycle, answering general HR questions, maintaining files/data, and supporting information flow between Divisional Headquarters (DHQ) HR, managers, and employees. The Assistant is also responsible for coordinating participant grievances.
Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
* Respond to inquiries from employees, providing guidance and support. (20%)
* Assist with the recruitment process by posting and managing job openings, assisting with application completion, and gathering new hire submission paperwork. (20%)
* Maintain the employee paperwork lifecycle for accuracy and completeness, ensuring data integrity by maintaining records and submitting all documents to DHQ HR. (20%)
* Conduct new employee orientation. (10%)
* Complete FMLA requests and submit them to DHQ HR for processing. (5%)
* Assist managers with timecard management. (5%)
* Collaborate on the development and delivery of training to employees. (5%)
* Coordinate all program participant grievances. (5%)
* Maintain up-to-date compliance postings. (5%)

Education and Experience
* High School diploma or equivalent required.
* Two years of relevant experience is highly preferred.
* Must pass background checks.
* Valid driver's license and meet the MVR driver's qualifications preferred.

* Must be able to communicate clearly in English, and work in person or on the phone.
* Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds.

None.
Driving/Travel Requirements
None. With a valid driver's license and cleared MVR, may occasionally drive locally between HLC sites or to DHQ.
