This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position, working 100% on-site at our Indianapolis location. This position reports to the HR Manager.Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Assists with the hourly recruitment process including updating job descriptions, posting jobs, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, coordination of background checks, drug screens and the drafting of offer letters
  • Partner with temporary labor vendors to ensure we are receiving qualified candidates, provide hours worked weekly to the temporary agencies so that temporary employees can be paid on a timely basis. Audit and process temporary agency invoices work with Accounts Payable to ensure the invoices are paid in a timely manner
  • Schedules and may conduct new hire and benefit orientations
  • Screens new hire employment eligibility via E-Verify within the first three days of employment
  • Processes new hires, rehires & terminations through our Human Resources Capital Management System (UKG Pro), ensuring accuracy and integrity of the data
  • Ensures new hires complete their benefits enrollment in a timely manner. Assist employees with the enrollment as needed
  • Assists with annual open enrollment event
  • Assists with leave administration and ensures compliance with FMLA, ADA and other local, State and Federal leave laws
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures
  • Responsible for updating and compiling information for the weekly payroll; will partner with supervisors to ensure employee timecards are correct
  • Tracking employee leave through our Human Resources Capital Management System (UKG Pro)
  • Maintains attendance records and works with managers to compile corrective actions in accordance with the attendance policy
  • Maintains records, including filing and general organization, record retrieval, archiving and purging.
  • Basic maintenance of Human Resources Capital Management System (UKG Pro), data entry, reporting, etc.
  • Maintains employee bulletin boards and other employee communications
  • Keeps forms, documents, and policies in circulation up to date
  • Creates, maintains, and verifies various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as directed by the HR Manager
  • Assists in organizing company events
  • Maintains Employee recognition programs (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
  • Assists in continuous improvement initiatives to automate tasks and increase efficiency
  • Refers all non-routine, complex and/or sensitive issues to HR Manager
  • Represents Nelson Global in an ethical and professional manner in all interactions
  • Inspires and promotes teamwork and positive morale
  • Performs other duties, as assigned by Plant Management, HR and Safety
Required Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
  • 2+ years experience working as an HR Assistant, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Requires strong proficiency in the use of a variety of software including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in data entry and reporting in a Human Resources Capital Management System
  • Specific experience in UKG Pro and Workforce Management (formerly Dimensions) desired
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work a full-time on-site schedule Monday - Friday
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
