Job Type Part-timeDescriptionJOB TITLE: Human Resources Assistant Location: Main office, Brooklyn, NYExemption: Non-Exempt Schedule: Flexible hours, 25 hours per week [Main Office is open Monday through Friday].Salary: $20 to $24 per hour, commensurate with education and experience Center for Family Life in Sunset Park (CFL) is a neighborhood-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to promote positive outcomes for children and adults through a comprehensive range of youth, family, and social services programs. Since 1978, CFL has grown with the dynamic, immigrant community of Sunset Park, offering access to resources that families need to thrive and responding to emerging needs with innovative programs including family counseling, cultural, educational, and recreational programs at neighborhood public schools, adult and youth employment programs, and an emergency storefront for food, legal and immigration services, and advocacy. In partnership with our community, we provide opportunities for personal development, enrich neighborhood residents' quality of life, and nurture relationships that sustain families and support youth in becoming confident, capable adults. The HR Assistant supports Talent Acquisition and HR tasks, including job postings, onboarding, background checks, and e-Verify. Additional responsibilities include coordinating post-onboarding activities, digitalizing personnel files, assisting with performance reviews, generating HR reports, and other HR administrative tasks. Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and a focus on process improvement are key. I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to Talent Acquisition
  • Recruitment : Prepare and monitor online job postings on multiple platforms
  • Onboarding : Assist new hires in completing their onboarding tasks. Complete e-Verify for new and rehired employees. Review all documentation supplied during the candidate onboarding Process background checks
  • Post-Onboarding : Create digital staff files. Coordinate email access and employee ID cards
Administrative Tasks
  • Respond to internal and external HR-related queries and requests
  • Assist with preparing HR-related paperwork and meetings
  • Assist with preparing audit materials
Payroll Processing and Time & Labor
  • Review and update timesheets for proper allocation codes
  • Review timesheet submittals
  • Contact supervisors for timesheet updates, submittals, and confirmations
Performance Management
  • Prepare materials for employee performance reviews
  • Assist with tracking the completion of performance reviews
Reporting and Recommending
  • Generate reports on general HR (Human Resources) activity
  • Recommend possible actions to improve existing processes
AmeriCorps Program
  • Assist AmeriCorps Program Coordinator for Sunset Park Community Corps
  • Assist with orientation and placing AmeriCorps service members
  • Manage background checks, enrollment, time tracking, timesheets, living allowances, payroll, and contract completion
  • Develop and maintain appropriate fiscal, personnel, program, and volunteer records and reports
II. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education/Degree minimum requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
  • Bachelor's in Human Resources or relevant fields preferred
  • Prior experience in Human Resources and HRIS, preferred
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage time efficiently
  • Committed to maintaining and safeguarding confidential information
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative with projects and work independently
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish, a plus
III. Schedule: Part-Time (25 hours per week) Monday to Friday, flexible scheduling IV: Benefits Up to four weeks of paid vacation.
