Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) full-time Human Resources Associate in the Human Resources department. We are currently seeking an energetic, mature and responsible Human Resources Associate to assist with our Human Resources and Administrative Functions. This position will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Principal Duties:
  • Manages the recruiting and hiring process, including posting open positions, obtaining and completing employment verifications, reviewing and processing new hire paperwork, and handling background checks with government agencies and outside vendors, participating in job fairs, answering inquiries about open positions, updating the agency website Careers at CHLDC page, etc.
  • Manages pre-employment communications and on-boarding/orientation activities (includes new hire and annual harassment compliance).
  • Conducts new hire orientation, on-boarding process and orients new hire to agency website, benefits including Paycom access and timesheets.
  • Prepares and maintains all employee files timely and accurately. Responsible for accurate maintenance and auditing of employee active and terminated personnel files and documents.
  • Manages scheduling and receipt of staff performance evaluations, and oversees agency training calendar.
  • Under the direction of the CHRO, makes agency announcements (weekly job postings, harassment, Paycom, annual open enrollment announcements, etc.)
  • Assists with Benefits Administration including Health Plan, Dental, & Life benefits, 403(b) Retirement Plan, Flexible Spending Accounts, Short-Term Disability, Workers' Compensation, FMLA, and other leaves of absence ensuring all plans comply with applicable laws and statutes.
  • Provides day-to-day benefits administration services such as benefits enrollment, terminations, changes, etc., internally and on vendor websites.
  • Provide explanation of benefits to staff as required.
  • Updates personnel information, including status changes and other employee specific data, into Paycom HR/Payroll system.
  • Responsible for scanning and uploading of all employee's personnel documents onto Paycom and move the department to a nearly paperless environment.
  • Responds appropriately to inquiries from authorized entities requesting current or former employee personnel information (employment verifications, wage garnishments, unemployment and short-term disability insurance inquiries).
  • Maintains, updates, and in some cases creates systems and reports for tracking Human Resources data and processes as requested.
  • Assist with the off-boarding process including processing of terminations.
  • Inform staff with any changes to paid time off and benefits.
  • Create and edit documents on PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Manages seasonal SYEP/WLG/Interns under the direction of the CHRO.
  • Liaison with any CHLDC office team locations for any office space regarding on-boarding and off-boarding if necessary.
  • Leads staff trainings as assigned by the CHRO.
  • Coordinate meetings, conference calls, lunch arrangements for meetings, etc.
  • Participates in agency events and fundraising activities including other activities to support the organization as and when required.
  • Participates in an Agency Committee or Committees.
  • Executes or assists with other department or agency-related tasks, duties or special projects as directed by the CHRO.
  • Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Ability to follow specific directions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize work efficiently and multitask simultaneously.
  • Highly organized, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a team player.
  • Attend HR trainings, meetings and seminars as needed.
  • Attain certifications in Human Resources.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Word, PowerPoint and Excel is essential.
Compensation:
  • $50,000 - $55,000, dependent upon experience and education. CHLDC offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits. This individual will also have the opportunity to learn aspects of a non-profit organization including finance, operations and fundraising.
