Job Title: Human Resources Associate

Location: Bollinger Shipyards, Lockport

Basic Function:

The Human Resources Associate I is responsible for compiling and maintaining personnel records and providing administrative support for day-to-day Human Resources operations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience (Years):

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resources or a similar capacity preferred.

Minimum Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Basic calculator, typing, and telephone skills.
  • Good interpersonal and people skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Record employee information, such as personal data, compensation, tax data, attendance, performance reviews, vacations, and termination details.
  • Prepare employee documents, including new hire paperwork, pre-employment physical exams, drug screens, and separation notices.
  • Process employment applications and assist with recruitment activities.
  • Input initial employee information into the Human Resource system.
  • Maintain and update employee data in the company database.
  • Update personnel files to document employee actions and provide information for payroll and other purposes.
  • Examine employee files to answer inquiries such as employment verifications, and provide information to authorized individuals.
  • Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining records and data for employee benefits administration.
  • Conduct new employee orientations, administer pre-employment tests, and conduct background checks.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls related to Human Resources inquiries.
  • Maintain the subcontractor database, including entering new hires and terminations, as well as managing related files and reports.
  • Perform clerical duties in the Human Resource department as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to employee safety, environmental standards, and the company's quality system principles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Report to work daily and on time.
