Our Human Resources department is hiring a dynamic and organized professional to join our team as a the Benefits and Leave Specialist. This position is responsible for the overall administration of benefits, leaves and workers compensation program providing subject matter expertise as well as empathetic support to all employees of the Agency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide new hire orientation and manager training specific to agency benefits, leaves and workers compensation.
  • Respond to internal/external department inquiries.
  • Responsible for timely completion of verifications of employment and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Applications.
  • Maintain personnel files.
  • Responsible for updating all applicable portals timely such as ADP, PFML and others.
  • Manage benefit administration software to ensure accurate and compliant processing of benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Audit benefit invoices monthly, track missed payroll deductions and follow through on missed deduction letters.

  • Manage the benefits administration, worker's compensation program and leaves process while maintaining compliance with Federal and State laws.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with benefit carriers to provide an excellent benefits processing experience and issue resolution for staff members
  • Coordinate yearly open enrollment for eligible employees. Ensure accuracy of enrollment and changes.
  • Responsible for the administration of all leaves of absence, coordination of benefits during leaves and coordination of return to work.
  • Responsible for timely follow up and communication with employees and management specific to leaves and workers compensation.
  • Responsible for regular Affordable Care Act (ACA) maintenance for new hires, monthly and yearly.
  • Administer Worker's Compensation program to ensure compliance with insurance reporting standards, applicable laws and appropriate follow up on actions to ensure safe work conditions as well as coordinate return to work assignments with Agency programs.
  • Monitor Worker's Compensation claims, generate reports, and communicate with insurance carriers, medical and legal staff.
  • Ensure communication with payroll to reflect employee changes regarding worker's compensation, benefits and leave of absence through timecards and action forms.
  • Completion of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) logs.
  • All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years' experience or Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience in benefits, FMLA and PFML.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Skill in organization, prioritization, and working independently.
  • Ability to communicate and work with others cooperatively.
  • Ability to travel for business.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • A qualifying criminal background check, driving record and a valid driver's license required.
