The position conducts sensitive human resources and labor relations related investigations/studies for the Deputy Director. The position provides analysis and reports of findings. Position performs liaison work for the Deputy Director. For more information about our benefits please follow this link: Functions* Serves as the Human Resources confidential assistant to the Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources.* Cooperates and collaborates with Labor Relations staff.* Conducts management studies of HR program performance areas for the purpose of improving/ enhancing customer service to the various offices.* Verifies annual performance evaluation dates.* Collaborates with IDPH Management on Agency directives and guidelines.* Performs administrative duties for Deputy Director.* Answers and directs telephone inquiries from employees and the general public relating to Public Health personnel and labor relations policies and procedures.* Attends and participates in meetings with the Deputy Director, or as the Deputy Director's representative.* Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.Minimum Qualifications* Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.* Requires one (1) year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.Preferred Qualifications* One (1) year Human Resources/Labor Relations work experience.* One (1) year experience conducting studies/investigations of human resources related matters.* One (1) year experience preparing correspondence and reports.* One (1) year experience multi tasking and coordinating ongoing multiple work activities.* One (1) year work experience in Microsoft software products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point, etc.* One (1) year experience establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships and dealing tactfully with controversial problems.About the AgencyThe Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is tasked with the oversight of communities within Illinois to achieve and maintain optimal health and safety.
