The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, but the work will be supervised by DOHMH.

Program Description:

The Center for Population Health Data Science (CPHDS)- launched in October of 2023- aims to catalyze critical data modernization work and enable the agency to make progress toward linking public health, healthcare, and social service for?timely and effective?public action.?We are working towards making these data more accessible, timely, equitable, meaningfully usable, and protected - and actively used to protect and promote the health and well-being of New Yorkers.?We aim to strengthen agency-wide data capabilities by empowering our workforce, enhancing intra- and inter-agency data sharing, and using modern technology to yield trusted and integrated data and insights. A real-time and comprehensive view of city needs is needed to enhance public health actions and improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable New Yorkers.??This position will be based at the Health Department's office in Long Island City, NY, with the possibility of hybrid work.

Summary of Position:

CPHDS is seeking a skilled and proactive temporary HR Coordinator to assist with the hiring of key positions that will support and advance initiatives to build the innovative Center to be at the forefront of public health. The Center is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce of employees who share a passion for advancing New York public health systems and promoting health equity.

The selected candidate will collaborate with DOHMH position supervisors to; manage the hiring process, draft and post job descriptions, review CVs, schedule interviews and communicate with applicants. This is a temporary position with a period of 6 months.

The HR Coordinator will:

* Assist with drafting job descriptions.

* Work with CPHDS admin team to post job descriptions and get CVs.

* Review CVs to see if they meet job requirements.

* Correspond with applicants about status.

* Set up interviews using Outlook.

* Project management: create timelines for hiring process, keep people informed, and ensure progress towards our goals.

* Organize DOHMH staff members to be on interview panels.

* Help draft interview questions, share with DOHMH staff for feedback and help integrate feedback.

* Create and maintain tracking spreadsheets in Excel or similar program.

Qualifications?and Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, preferably in business administration, human resources, or other related field.

* Knowledge and experience in recruitment; skilled use of recruitment methods and tools.

* Proven ability to write job descriptions and prepare interview questions.

* Experience in organizing and fostering cooperation between staff.

* Familiarity with public health, data science or health informatics is a plus.

* You must live in New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) to be considered for a position.

* Salary: $45.27/hr - $45.27/hr

Preferred Skills:

* Detail oriented with good project management skills.

* Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

* Strong organization and time management skills; comfortable with multi-tasking.

* Must be able to work in team settings and collaborate effectively with others.

* Ability to accept and integrate feedback into work.

* Computer literate and proficient in the use of MS Office.
