Apple Patch Community, Inc. (Pillar) is a nonprofit organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We were founded by a group of parents who were concerned what would happen to their children when they could no longer care for them. From this love residential services, day programming, case management, clinical services, and transportation services have formed. We serve 225 people and have 140 employees. Located in Crestwood, we are minutes from Louisville and all of its amenities and attractions while still having a community feel. Through strategic partnerships with local schools and community groups, the VISTA will pioneer programs that connect potential employees with job opportunities that foster inclusivity and connection for people with disabilities. By developing a tracking system and exploring innovative recruitment avenues, you'll be responsible for attracting talent, and advising leadership on new strategies. You'll have the opportunity to create a streamlined recruitment and retention process that is critical to providing the support that people with disabilities need. To be successful, VISTA will have basic technology skills. VISTA will have great interpersonal skills that can be used to build relationships in the community and with current employees. VISTA will be ambitious and willing to take initiative on projects with support from Pillar staff. VISTA will enjoy developing systems and processes and have an interest in employee recruitment, hiring, and retention. This program is a great opportunity to learn about the human resources field and the disabilities services field. Many of the skills learned as a VISTA in this program will translate to other jobs, and you will have the opportunity to lead this project with support and guidance from staff.
