Human Resources CoordinatorJob SummaryThe Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Human Resources team and local management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment, employment law compliance, health and Safety, and workers' compensation.Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and administer various human resources plans and procedures and maintain the employee handbook
- Administer the performance evaluation program; update and maintain wage/salary adjustments
- Perform benefits administration; including claims resolution, change reporting and communicate benefits information to employees
- Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes for exempt and non-exempt personnel
- Conduct employee onboarding and assist with training and development
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers on employee relation concerns and corrective counseling; manage and track employee corrective action
- Provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as employee relations counseling and exit interviewing
- Promote HR and Employee engagement programs to create an inclusive culture and conflict-free workplace
- Gather and analyze data: report HR metrics
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
- Other core expectations as defined by the company
Requirements and Skills
- Post-secondary education required; Bachelor of Human Resources, Business or Related Discipline preferred
- CHRP/SHRM designation or working towards certification is an asset
- Minimum two (2) years experience in Human Resources environment; experience in the produce/agriculture industry preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP and the PrimusGFS program
- Must be able to handle sensitive issues with tact and maintain strict confidentiality of private information; commitment to high professional and ethical standards
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in a team environment with individuals of all leadership styles, personalities, and career levels
- Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary; persuasive with details and facts; ability to motivate and empower with a forward-thinking nature
Working Conditions
- Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; ability and willingness to travel
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. Occasional work in a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F or in a greenhouse with a temperature range from 90-100°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
- Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; the employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods is required.
- The position may involve needing to lift up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
