The Company

Our community bank client, headquartered in Western New York, is looking to add a Human Resources Director to their team. This position is a great career opportunity for a candidate with a depth of experience in Human Resources. Banking experience and SPHR certification are a plus. This individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be a contributing member of the bank s senior leadership team. The role also offers a very competitive salary and bonus package, along with a full array of employee benefits.

The Opportunity

The Human Resources Director role will enable the right candidate to leverage their experience and take the next step in the development of their career. The HR Director will be responsible for managing the overall Human Resources functions in the bank, including employee relations, performance management, talent recruitment, payroll, benefits and compliance with internal/ external policies and regulatory requirements. The HR Director will regularly communicate and work collaboratively with other divisions, the bank s management team, the Board of Directors and regulatory agencies. The HR Director will also actively represent the bank at civic and community-based activities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the entirety of the employee life cycle (recruiting, onboarding, performance, offboarding).
  • Perform recruiting activities for all business units.
  • Manage and maintain job descriptions, maintain wage/salary ranges, monitor the internal equity and external competitiveness of bank wages/salaries.
  • Administer and monitor the Bank's compliance activities relating to laws, acts, or orders affecting the human resource management function and ensure that managers and supervisors are aware of and adhere to proper protocol.
  • Maintain electronic employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organization structure and other key details.
  • Manage personnel changes, to include position changes, layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence.
  • Manage the Bank's performance appraisal system, educate and monitor the employees and managers in completing the evaluations as well as assisting senior management in determining the relationship between the system and merit wage/salary increases.
  • Manage leave of absence, collaborating with third-party vendor in submission of disability and paid family leave programs.
  • Administer the Bank's personnel policies and makes provisions for and actively participate in the communication of same.
  • Manage the Bank s benefit programs and coordinate the communication of these benefits, while ensuring that the most cost effective and competitive benefits plans are provided for employees.
  • Prepare and file required forms and reports on the company s benefits programs, processes claim forms, enrollment and termination forms, and other related documents, including 401K administration.
  • Plan and support company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire onboarding and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
  • Collaborate with Managers to develop employee ongoing training, based on career goals.
  • Maintain an active awareness of employee morale and the attitudes of employee groups toward the Bank.
  • Collaborate with Controller to manage payroll process.
  • Keep personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the division and/or their jobs and create an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
  • Respond in a timely manner to employee s complaints/issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in business related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in related Human Resources positions
  • SPHR certification, preferred
  • Banking industry experience, preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an efficient manner
  • Knowledge of current banking and employer regulations, familiarity with regulatory agencies and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with other stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position is $92,840 to $139,260. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level.
