This role will involve developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives that align with the region's goals and objectives. The HR Director will lead a team of HR professionals and collaborate with senior leadership to ensure effective strategies for talent management, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.Our preferred candidate will have prior experience in the AEC (architectural, engineering and construction) industry, and an interest in working in a dynamic global design environment.Governance of the Position:As a key member of the Executive Management team, the HR Director will report to the Managing Director of the Americas and assume a strategic role in the people-focused function of the company.Key Responsibilities: Serve as a thought partner to the Americas Region Board; influence and drive key business decisions. Promote inclusion in the workplace and reinforce position as an equal opportunity employer. Ensure hiring, onboarding and management procedures are effective for diverse groups. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution. Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and reinforce the Company's Mission, Values and Purpose. Determine, recommend, and implement employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale. Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement.Talent Management, Engagement, & Recruiting: Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting, onboarding and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the organization. Spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive learning and development strategies that support career development.Compensation & Benefits: Assess and oversee comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective. Evaluate and recommend modifications and improvements to employee benefits programs.Administration & Policies: Oversee Office Support Staff (admins) across the Populous offices. Create, implement, and provide guidance related to all HR policies, processes and procedures. Develop and oversee the budget of the human resources operations. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements. Manage employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures. Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and develop strategies for improving employee engagement, retention, and productivity. Lead and develop a high-performing HR team, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Knowledge of visa sponsorship processes and requirements is required. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in human resources leadership roles. Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
