Job Title: Director of Human Resources and Compliance

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Newport Beach, CA

Position Status: Full-Time

Pay Range: $140,000 - $155,000

Job Summary

The Human Resources Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the company culture, leading employee relations efforts, and overseeing key HR functions, including benefits management (401k, medical), payroll, and events planning. This position requires a strategic, detail-oriented leader who can cultivate a positive workplace environment and build programs that engage employees, while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

Culture Building & Events Planning

  • Spearhead initiatives to foster a vibrant and inclusive company culture aligned with our mission and values.
  • Plan and execute company-wide events, team-building activities, and celebrations that promote engagement, morale, and collaboration.
  • Work closely with leadership to develop diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.

Employee Relations

  • Oversee the management of employee relations initiatives, providing guidance and support to managers and employees on complex issues.
  • Foster an open, communicative environment that encourages employee feedback and resolution of workplace concerns.
  • Implement conflict resolution strategies, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes.

Payroll and Benefits Administration Oversight

  • Oversee the management of payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Oversee the management of employee benefits programs, including 401k plans, medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
  • Ensure the benefits programs are compliant with regulations, cost-effective, and competitive in the market.

HR Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that support the company's growth and organizational goals.
  • Prepare and present HR reports and metrics to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive Human Resources Management level experience with at least ten (10) in a Human Resources supervisory role
  • Minimum 3 years in a Senior HR Manager role (HR Manager, Director or VP role)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • Proven track record of fostering positive workplace cultures and planning successful employee events.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Experience with payroll systems and benefits management software.
  • Deep understanding of labor laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
