Our integrated network of locations across North America and a team of dedicated professionals makes CTOS the trusted partner in industries like utility, rail, telecom, infrastructure, and forestry services.We're hiring a Human Resources Generalist to support HR policies, procedures, and programs for our Upper Mid-West Region.The position is on-site and can be based at either of these CTOS shop locations: 9230 Cedar Knoll Drive, Grass Lake, Michigan, 492403112 Indiana 124, Bluffton, Indiana, 46714SummaryHuman Resources Generalist is responsible for applying HR policies, procedures, and programs for our Upper Mid-West Region. The HR Generalist will be a dynamic and thoughtful business partner with a collaborative style. They will support employees and managers by responding to HR inquiries and support the HR Manager in implementing talent management programs. The HR Generalist also works with various other departments to support the Company's overall operating structure and goals. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides advice and assistance to employees and managers on HR policies, programs, and procedures. Resolves HR inquiries or escalates to the appropriate individual depending on severity.Oversees Recruitment process including negotiating offers, writing and distributing offer letters, and initiating drug / background screens; works with Talent Acquisition team.Facilitates onboarding and offboarding, including managing logistics with appropriate teams (e.g., Payroll, IT, Safety, L&D) and assists with exit process.Facilitates proper employee documentation and records in HR systems, compiling reports as needed.Assists with and handles various employee relations issues and disciplinary action.Maintains bi-weekly payroll content (e.g., approving timecards in timekeeping system, uploading appropriate payroll related forms, and approving ADP registers for submission).Monitors and administers benefits including processing qualifying life events, conducting annual Open Enrollment meetings, and assisting employees as needed.Assists with worker's comp injuries and filing claims with insurance company.Reviews and approves leaves; maintains FMLA compliance including employee notification, certification, and review of applications for approval; monitors approved leave hours.Works with DOT Compliance Manager to ensure DOT compliance for employees.Supports the HR Manager with special projects as needed.Interacts with various departments such as Payroll, Safety, Accounting, Operations, Sales, etc.Ensures compliance with all governmental rules and regulations. Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Skills and QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or other related field.Minimum of 5 years experience in an HR Generalist or similar role.Experience working with HR information systems, ADP a plus.Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Teams).Must be able to successfully multi-task.Knowledge of laws and regulations, multi-state preferred. Must be able to evaluate the entirety of situations fully and logically before making a decision.Must be able to retain knowledge easily and be adaptable as situations evolve.Must be able to communicate well and professionally through both verbal and written communications.Must have personality and ability to interact with people on all levels of the organization in a professional manner.Create an environment of positive employee relations, keeping confidentiality, establishing trust and credibility, and be seen by employees and managers as approachable and fair. Other Skills and QualificationsSHRM-CP or PHR certification or currently pursuing a certification, a plus.
