Responsible for Human Resources function in the Cambridge, Maryland DS Smith plant location and reporting to the Plant Human Resources Manager.This individual will be on the onsite Human Resources Generalist and will provide HR services to the Leadership team at the local site.Includes all aspects of Human Resources including Employee Relations, HRIS/Payroll data management, Benefits enrollment, Site Recruiting, etc.Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide support and resources for staff and management in employee relations issues.
- Responsible for all hourly recruiting for the facility including processing employment advertisements, applications, screenings, interviewing and weekly reporting to Regional/ Divisional HR team.
- Assist with on-site training, including safety, employee development, and benefits to include partnering with department managers to identify outside training resources for employee development.
- Must comply and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program.
- Assist with the development of job descriptions for current and future positions.
- Update employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason. Update employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses. Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
- Assist management in monitoring attendance, seniority lists, and maintenance of HR records.
- Coordinate Open Enrollment and assist new hires with benefit enrollments as well as benefit or status changes.
- Responsible for scheduling new hire orientations, including benefits overview, rules, attendance, and benefit enrollments. Responsible for coordinating the attendance of appropriate management representatives for the orientation.
- Coordinate service and recognition awards, including the Smithies Awards, in conjunction with members of site management.
- Coordination of local employee engagement activities.
- Coordinate internal job bidding process for hourly union positions.
- Ensure compliance with union contract.
- Other duties as assigned.
