SUMMARY: Responsible for providing support in implementing employee relations policies, procedures, and programs for a diverse, multi-shift, union-represented food production organization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to Managing employee relations and labor relations issues, CBA administration, processing progressive disciplinary action, interpreting policies and procedures for employees and managers, managing and reporting on employee absence, unemployment processing, wage and salary administration, HRIS management, creating substantiating documentation that complies with all employment law and regulations. - Enforces employee relations-related policies and procedures, labor contract understanding and interpretation, safety and environmental requirements, and equal opportunity policies and practices.
- Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship with employees and management while providing counsel of all types, including progressive discipline. Offers coaching, skills development, management direction, and policy interpretation.
- Development and maintenance of HR-related metrics and reports.
- Assists with and contributes to the development of policies and procedures and the production and maintenance of the employee handbook working within the framework of the existing collective bargaining agreement.
- Assist in coordinating necessary communications with the workforce. Provides problem resolution to complaints/grievances received by employees and partners with management to integrate results.
- Responds to unemployment claims, responses, investigations, appeal processing, and unemployment hearings.
- Accesses and inputs accurate data entry into the HRIS system and related HR technologies. Generates reports from HR technologies and performs analysis on results – turns data into information. Creates professional presentations with data mined from various systems and reports.
- Understands and provides counsel on employment laws and regulations. Strives to continually improve the knowledge base in the legal and human resources disciplines.
- Completes investigations and assists in the preparation of EEOC and agency responses.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in a related discipline (human resources mgt., general business) is required; five (5) years of experience in HR with exposure to many of its sub-disciplines, such as employee relations, labor relations, talent, and benefits/leave management is strongly preferred; as well as experience working in a manufacturing environment. Master degree preferred. KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of current employment law is key. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and prefer experience with HRIS Systems (i.e., SAP, SuccessFactors). Must be a detail-oriented and effective performer who manages time well and processes quickly. LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: HR-related certifications are preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to build reports and write general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, and candidates. Strong reading comprehension, communication, and analytical skills are required. Due to business necessity, the ability to communicate fluently and write effectively in Spanish is required. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess the skill set to effectively and clearly communicate with others within and outside of the Company. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. Strong analytical skills. Must be self-motivated, committed to performing quality work, and able to work within a team environment.
