Job Overview

The Human Resources Generalist oversees the daily operations of the HR department, which includes recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes; management of payroll, benefits, and paid time off (PTO); enforcement of company policies and practices; and employee engagement initiatives. Additionally, this role provides support to department managers in employee relations as needed.

  • Hybrid schedule: In-office on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote on Tuesday and Friday

Location

Compensation

  • Starting at $60K
  • Final compensation will vary depending on several factors, including role level, skills, competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience

Duties/Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition, Onboarding & Termination

  • Oversee the full-cycle recruiting process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and extending job offers
  • Organize and conduct orientation sessions for new employees
  • Manage terminations in a legally compliant manner, conduct exit interviews, and handle employee offboarding

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Address and resolve employee concerns, complaints, disputes, and disciplinary matters
  • Lead investigations, conflict resolution, and mediation as necessary
  • Foster a positive workplace culture through recognition programs and morale-boosting initiatives
  • Identify team needs and implement team-building programs or relevant training
  • Support the employee performance management process, including talent management, career progression programs, and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
  • Apply for awards from recognition programs
  • Coach managers on performance-related conversations

Compensation, Benefits, & Payroll

  • Manage payroll and ensure accurate compensation
  • Administer employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave
  • Oversee annual performance reviews, raises and bonuses
  • Ensure compliance laws related to wages and time worked

Compliance Knowledge

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Manage workplace safety programs and compliance with OSHA regulations

HR Strategy, Systems & Policy

  • Manage employee records and privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Help develop and develop company policies and procedures to align with organizational goals
  • Oversee and maintain the employee handbook
  • Manage HR Information Systems (HRIS) and employee data and reporting
  • Support and lead key HR initiatives or other interim projects that support overall company strategy

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred
  • At least two to three years of human resources experience is preferred
