We are a welcoming destination for living, working, and visiting that - combined with our core values of accountability, innovation, trust, industriousness, and friendship - create an environment with opportunities to make a positive impact for our community.ROLE The HR Generalist assists with the administration of the day-to-day functions of the HR division. The individual in this role is responsible for assisting with payroll administration, benefits and leave administration, maintaining paperwork and digital files, entry of employee information into the HRIS, processing new hire paperwork and conducting onboarding, and communicating HR policies and procedures to employees.
  • Administers the City-wide biweekly payroll including processing and reconciling payroll deductions and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll laws and regulations; Assists with benefits administration including new hire enrollment, change reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Assists with the talent acquisition process for hourly, non-exempt roles to include, but not limited to posting jobs, tracking incoming applications, conducting phone interviews, running pre-employment screens, and conducting onboarding sessions for new hires.
  • Assists with the administration of Leave of Absence programs (FMLA, ADA, and personal leave) and the workers' compensation and safety programs.
  • Assists with the talent management program to include, but not limited to distributing and monitoring performance reviews, tracking disciplinary action, and updating compensation changes.
  • Administrative user within HRIS system; enters new hire information and processes employee terminations and changes to include, but not limited to department transfers, address changes, pay rate changes, title changes, and direct deposit updates.
RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSWhat does it take to succeed in this role? We're looking for a motivated individual with strong project management skills and a willingness to learn. You should also have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in human resources, payroll, or similar role
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license
  • Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
Preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
  • Previous experience with BS&A software, NEOGOV, and/or other HRIS/ATS system
