As our Human Resources Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our incredible employees through the entire Mill Steel life cycle. Your expertise will contribute to various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, performance management, and compliance, allowing us to maintain a positive and productive work environment. You will work closely with our existing HR team to develop and implement strategies that align with our organizational goals and foster a culture of excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Cross train with Payroll & Benefits Specialist on payroll processing
  • Develop and implement projects that drive organizational impact and improvement.
  • Coordinates and attends career fairs and employment events as needed.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Completes I-9 verification in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Facilitates the new hire onboarding process and overall engagement of new associates to Mill Steel Company.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Preforms regular maintenance of associate profiles and manages changes in HRIS platform.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Responsible for responding to all initial unemployment inquiries
  • Responsible for responding to all employment verification requests from external partners.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity and completeness of employee electronic filing system.
  • Facilitate employee stay and exit interviews.
  • Send weekly and monthly reports to managers and directors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, communications or related field required.
  • At least 2 years of recruiting experience in high volume field required (manufacturing industry preferred)
  • At least 1 year of professional/office/sales recruiting experience

Travel Requirements:

Mill Steel Company is a multi-state company, this role requires the willingness to travel as needed (approximately a couple times a year or more dependent on need)

Organizational Relationship:

This individual reports to the Associate Director of Human Resources and works closely with a variety of departments throughout the company.
