About Our Opportunity The Human Resources Intern at our Blairs, Virginia campus, will directly assist the Human Resources Manager and Human Resource team with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employee benefits, and compensation. This paid internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest and apply them in a professional setting. Responsibilities
- Assists Recruiter with the full-cycle recruitment process for all vacant Non-Exempt positions at the Company's Blairs location during high-volume
- Learn and understand the importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
- Complete tasks related to the interrelationship of HR and Operations in the areas of new employee paperwork, payroll issues related to onboarding and termination, use of HRIS, and report generation.
- Ensure all employee paperwork is completed timely and accurately. Maintains onsite employee filing system and ensures that all records and files comply.
- Support HR Assistant with the processing of Personal Action Forms (PAF) and ensure all changes are correct and timely.
- Distribute I.D. badges as needed. Assist with new badge process during the Onboarding process
- Responsible for the collection and completion of all new hire forms during the Onboarding process and new employee folder setup.
- Assist with various other duties and projects, including but not limited to training, orientation, filing, I-9 audits, attending job fairs, etc.
- Supports and responds to Human Resources Manager and Sr. Human Resources Generalist as needed
- Depending on the interest and background of the individual, completes a HR process review for an informal presentation to the local HR team prior to end of internship
- Performs other related duties and projects as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and office administrative procedures.
- Superior detail-orientation and the ability to produce accurate work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of human resource information systems, or similar programs preferred.
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel required. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources. Major in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or any other related field preferred
- Student Member of SHRM a plus.
- Previous HR Internship experience preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly prefferred.
