Job Summary
The HR Manager will work collaboratively with senior leaders, HR, and the HRBP team to provide full-service human resources consultation services and support staffing, performance management, professional development, employee and labor relations, change leadership, compensation, and regulatory/University compliance that embraces and advances the Mission, Vision and Values of Michigan Medicine. The HR Manager will be responsible for the coordination of administrative and operational responsibilities within and across services area including the design, implementation, and administration of HR processes and programs. These individuals will develop and maintain a positive employee relations and engagement environment, collaborate with leadership and staff, and provide guidance and consistent interpretation of policies, practices and programs to their teams, customers, and across the department. They will be expected to draw from their experience and knowledge and provide technical guidance to other HR staff members. The HR Managers will be a part of the leadership team to provide HR expertise and support.

Responsibilities*
Ensure that the HRBP team is following consistent practices including: HR processes, employee relations and coaching, employee development, compensation, talent acquisition (recruiting and staffing), talent management performance management, DEI initiatives, etc.
* Supervise the HRBP team and act as the first point of contact for team members related to HR practices. Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and feedback to the team and maintain a positive staff relations environment while promoting a community of learning.
* Stay abreast of legal requirements and University policies affecting the delivery of HR services by the HRBP team. Recommend new approaches to continually improve the efficiency of the team, HR optimization efforts, and services performed. Utilize metrics to monitor and improve team effectiveness.
* Leverage HR expertise and serve as an HR consultant to leadership. Identify and recommend process improvements of HR service delivery in assigned areas and champion ongoing developments in alignment with best practices.
* When required, provide HRBP support to designated service areas.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field. A Master's Degree in HR, business, or related field is desired.
* At least 7 years of progressive human resources experience including advising senior leaders.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience managing or leading staff/teams in a dynamic and complex environment. Experience within the healthcare industry is desired.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant federal and state labor and employment laws.
* Experience with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and worker's compensation administration.
* Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills, diplomacy, and discretion.
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and effective channels of communication at multiple levels and with diverse groups inside and outside the organization.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks & often competing priorities within established and changing deadlines.
* Successful experience in a professional team-oriented environment with commitment to customer service and driving HR excellence.
* Demonstration of strong leadership skills and abilities.

* Healthcare experience
* HR Certification (including SHRM and HRCI certifications as well as other HR-related certifications
