Overview

This role is designed to support our growing Distribution and Transportation Team. This position will be based at our Socorro, Texas location and support the team of 175+ associates as well as our local leadership team. The role will also support two smaller additional locations. The position is responsible for leading associate relations, development, and associate engagement and recruitment in the Distribution Center in support of company values and business objectives. Provide excellent customer service by building partnerships and being responsive to the needs of associates, local leadership, regional leadership, other DCs. Addresses issues such employee engagement, development, staffing, employee concerns, investigations, and project management. Drives ProDriven Brands both at the local tactical level while also leveraging a strategic lens to help build a best in class working environment.

Responsibilities

What you'll do: Provides a strategic partnership directly with the DC General Manager with continuous communication and alignment with all human capital initiatives. Partner with the broader HR Team to provide strategic and tactical HR support, ensuring alignment with corporate direction, strategic initiatives, and human resources best practices. (e.g., talent recruitment, development and training; associate engagement; succession planning; performance management; legal/regulatory compliance; compensation, safety and benefit policies and practices). Provide safety and workers compensation guidance and support and consistency throughout the DC system to reinforce the Company's culture of safety. Educate, support, and follow up with DC leadership team regarding execution of human resources policies, processes, and initiatives, and handling associate relations issues. Perform relations investigations, including associate/leadership interviews, documentation and follow up, supporting the administration of appropriate consequences as needed. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership on all appropriate matters, and facilitate escalation, as needed. Provide operational support to leadership as needed with human resources-related functions (e.g., unemployment hearings, negative background checks, accommodations, leave of absence coordination, etc.) Consistently administer human resources policies and procedures for all associates, with attention to confidentiality, timeliness, privacy, and fairness. Possess and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of distribution jobs and stay up to date with industry trends through regular communication, walking the DC floor to observe job performance and attending operational meetings. Pro-actively recommend and assess strategic talent and organizational development initiatives that address the evolving needs of the business. Partner with the leadership team and Training Specialist regarding associate and management development needs, identifying and facilitating activities to improve skills, encourage career development and build bench strength. Mentor leadership on effective performance review process to ensure consistency, fairness, and timeliness. Establish best practices with the campus/network HR team to develop and coordinate programs and events Possess a continuous improvement mindset using innovative methods to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the business and the support to our employees Guide, support, coach, and develop local HR staff Drives a culture focused on living the WernerCo values

Qualifications

What you'll bring: 10+ years human resources management experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred Professional in Human Resources certification preferred (E.g. PHR, SHRM-CP) Human resources experience in supply chain and/or distribution center environment Proficient with Microsoft office products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint Highly analytical with a demonstrated ability to manage data and metrics to support performance Demonstrated knowledge of current employment laws (EEO, Wage & Hour, Labor, ADA, FMLA) Excellent communication skills Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) required Creative, innovative, flexible thinking Strong presentation and facilitation skills Honest and collaborative team-player with exhibited ability to work independently and collaboratively with flexibility to move between projects in a fast-paced environment Self-confident with a strong sense of personal accountability Ability to embrace and leverage current and new technology to support the business
