Job Description:The Human Resources Specialist provides expertise in a variety of human resources functions, with a focus on operations and talent acquisition. Working in a highly confidential environment, the Human Resources Specialist will demonstrate working knowledge of routine and complex assignments.Essential Functions* Leads cross-divisional collaboration to coordinate and oversee all processes related to generating annual salary notices through the Munis system, ensuring accurate and timely communication. Works closely with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure all personnel changes are accounted for, resulting in up-to-date and accurate data within the HRIS system. Addresses and resolves employee concerns related to salary notices, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to enhance system accuracy and employee confidence.* Oversees the HR aspects of managing unemployment claims, including reviewing claims, gathering necessary documentation, and assisting counsel in hearings, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and minimizing organizational risk.* Serves as the primary point of contact for employees and managers with inquiries regarding Teacher post-retirement reemployment, providing guidance in accordance with the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board (CTRB) guidelines. Ensures compliance by submitting required forms twice annually to CTRB and addressing any discrepancies or issues related to reemployment processes.* Assists in developing and implementing operational processes to enhance the department's efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals.* Assists in facilitating and supporting the New Employee Orientation and hiring training by actively participating and assisting in the smooth execution of these programs. Ensures a welcoming and informative experience for new hires, contributing to their successful onboarding process.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* Ability to actively contribute to team goals and tasks, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve objectives effectively.* Strong capability to articulate confidential information, ideas, and instructions clearly, both verbally and in writing, ensuring seamless communication within the organization.* Proficient understanding of HRIS systems, and their role in managing and maintaining accurate personnel and payroll records.* Ability to conduct detailed research and analysis to resolve complex employee concerns, ensure compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.* Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to unemployment claims, post-retirement reemployment, and HR documentation.* Proven ability to lead cross-divisional collaboration, coordinate processes, and implement systems to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HR services, such as salary notices and onboarding documentation.* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer service. This includes customer needs assessment and satisfaction.* Proven expertise in utilizing various computer platforms, databases, and applications, including but not limited to Munis, Google Drive, and the Microsoft Office Suite, facilitating efficient workflow and data management processes.Qualifications* 3+ years related experience required* Associate's Degree or higher; or an equivalent combination of education and experience* SHRM certification preferredEquipment* Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, fax machines, and telephones.* Limited travel to and from meetings/events may be required.* Works in a standard office environment.To access the job description and salary range please click ID: 12926 @ CREC: External Job Opportunities (Careers)
