The principles are Innovation, Spiritual Formation, Integrity, Diversity & Inclusion, and Excellence.The Human Resource Specialist will assist with the administration of employee benefits, ensuring accuracy in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and providing exceptional support to employees. This position will oversee benefits enrollments, assist with health savings accounts and retirement plans, manage worker's compensation claims, and coordinate the onboarding process for new hires. The specialist will also maintain compliance with employment laws and university policies while contributing to the development of HR initiatives. Responsibilities
- Administer and ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS, providing vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries, including claim issues, plan changes, and general questions about benefits.
- Enroll employees in benefits programs and process life status changes as needed.
- Manage health savings accounts and assist with the administration of the 403(b) retirement plan: including enrollments, plan changes, and contribution management.
- Oversee the annual open enrollment process, including distributing materials, conducting information sessions, and ensuring timely and accurate enrollment.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and accident reports, ensuring proper processing and year-end reporting.
- Assist with new-hire orientations, ensuring employees are informed about their benefits options and enrollment procedures.
- Coordinate and participate in the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable employment laws and university policies to ensure that all benefits administration are in compliance.
- Process and administer leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) cases.
- Provide necessary reports on benefits utilization, compliance, and other relevant HR metrics.
- Develop, document, and maintain operating processes, procedures, and data/records systems within the HRIS (e.g., Jenzabar, ADP).
Education
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field is preferred. An associate degree in HR or 5 years of related experience may be considered as a substitute for formal education.
- Previous experience working with ADP being a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
