Back to Basics Learning is an education services business that has been in business for over 35 years. We have automated much of our hiring process to make recruiting and hiring as easy as possible. We specialize in hiring educators who want to help students improve their grades through 1:1 or small group tutoring.

We are seeking a talented and versatile candidate to fulfill a key Human Resources role within Back to Basics Learning Dynamics. The candidate will work as an HR Specialist performing the key role of staff recruiting and onboarding. Below is a summary of responsibilities for the role:

As our HR Specialist, you will be responsible for all talent acquisition including running ads, evaluating resumes, candidate follow-up, processing of all hiring forms, and reporting, and paperwork throughout the hiring process. Recruiting and hiring efforts include teachers, tutors, interpreters, translators as well as professional or general office staff. As HR Specialist, you must be able to help anticipate our needs, manage our full recruitment cycle from end to end and ensure we always meet our staff requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an overall recruiting strategy
  • Consult with the hiring manager(s) to discover staff requirements and specific job objectives
  • Write and post job descriptions via JazzHR, our Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Evaluate, screen, and sort candidate resumes and covers letters
  • Conduct reference calls and emails
  • Send offer letters
  • Conduct background checks
  • Act as company contact for all candidates throughout the hiring process
  • Create Google forms and excel spreadsheets as needed for reporting and tracking
  • Print badges for in-person and check they have up to date background/fingerprint
  • Back up for our front desk person in answering phones and opening center.

Skills

  • Experience as a Recruiting Coordinator, Recruiter, or similar administrative role
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects within deadline
  • Ability to multitask and take initiative
  • Organization and follow-through a must
  • Trustworthy dealing with highly confidential material
  • Excellent attention to detail

More about the role:

  • 20-25 hours a week. It may vary during the summer hours.
  • Days are flexible (3 days a week between 8am-5pm or 9am-2pm). Times are flexible.
  • 90 days in office, potential for remote work after.
  • The office dress code is business casual
