Position Title: Human Resources Specialist Term of Employment: 12 months Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of HR Pay Information: SG 65General Statement of JobThe employeewill apply, communicate, and promote human resources procedural best practices that support the District in achieving stated goals and objectives. Employees participate, following established guidelines, in one or more human resources functional areas as specified by the Assistant Superintendent.Essential Job Functions
- Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Stanly County Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to personnel issues.
- Accurate and prompt processing of forms, statements and other related materials.
- Keep informed of federal, state and local policies concerning all areas human resources.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel & Student Services
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, employees, and central office staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the department and as a liaison with other departments as necessitated by work assignment.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks as requested.
- Ability to learn, interpret, and explain policies, regulations and procedures.
- Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statutes.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft Office Professional software programs.
- Physical ability (able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to compile and summarize information.
- Ability to resolve problem situations with sound judgment.
- Ability to compose correspondences independently.
- Ability to work in the absence of supervision.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Preferred Associate Degree with coursework in human resources, business administration or related field and considerable experience working with employee benefits administration and evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in performing the position's duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
- Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, or hearing, typing, handle or feel and repetitive motions
- Work occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling with hands and arms, pushing, or pulling and lifting
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic)
