Incomplete applications will not be considered.JOB DESCRIPTION:This is a professional position with the Area 10 HIV/AIDS Surveillance Office, covering Broward County. This team member (the NIR Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating, providing technical assistance and implementing activities associated with identifying risk information on reported Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) cases. He/she should have a good rapport with internal and external customers, display a positive attitude, work in a flexible manner, be approachable, and work independently under the supervision of the Senior Human Services Program Manager. This analyst is part of the public health organization and is expected to promote cooperation, courtesy, and teamwork in a diverse environment.Risk AscertainmentInvestigates HIV and AIDS cases reported in Axiom Pro and Images with no identified Risk (NIR) or No Reported Risk (NRR) Contacts reporting providers to ascertain risk information.Reclassifies NIR (NO Identified Risk) cases when appropriate.Requests and reviews medical records from public and private hospitals and other reporting sites.Submits required case reports to the State Health Office as it relates to risk exposure and reclassification.Identifies providers with high NIR rates and provides appropriate feedback and technical assistance as needed.Establishes active liaison with medical providers most likely to diagnose and treat HIV/AIDS patients.Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers.Provides NIR training for registered C/T sites, in collaboration with the local Early Intervention Consultant (EIC) Assists in special HIV/AIDS Surveillance investigations and /or studies requested by the Department of Health and or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).HIV/AIDS SurveillanceConducts active and passive HIV/AIDS Surveillance in accordance with Florida Statute 384, Chapter 64D-3 Florida Administrative Code Centers for Disease Control guidelines, HIV/AIDS Surveillance Module training, and instruction received by supervisor and the Bureau of AHIV/AIDS.Completes CDC 50.42A on new and updated cases as assigned (5% or less error rate).Periodically travels to providers in order to Investigate reported labs and complete case report forms.Enters labs and other medical information (CD4 Count, Viral Load, ARVs, Diagnosis info) into PRISM for patients without PRISM profile ID.Dissemination of DataAssists in the downloading of electronic labs from Tallahassee through HAL system.Assists in the completion of data requests and validations as assigned.Assists in the disposition of labs in HAL system.Updates Area 10 Access Spreadsheet on a daily basis.Assists in scanning completed CDC 50.42A and printing data from Area 10 folder.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFIATIONS:* Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.* Current employee of the Florida Department of Health including OPS, CS, SES, or SMS.* Valid driver's license, free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes.* Experience working in HIV or other communicable disease program.* Experience in investigating HIV and AIDS cases reported in Axiom Pro.* Knowledge of HIV/AIDs surveillance basic protocols.* Experience filling out CDC 50.42A.PREFERED QUALIFITIONS:* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.* Knowledge of HIV.* Experience working with confidential health information.* Knowledge of HIV laboratory test results.Florida Department of Health Mission, Vision, and Values:Mission:To protect, promote & improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county & community efforts.Vision:To be the Healthiest State in the Nation.Values:I nnovation: We search for creative solutions and manage resources wisely.C ollaboration: We use teamwork to achieve common goals & solve problems.A ccountability: We perform with integrity & respect.R esponsiveness: We achieve our mission by serving our customers & engaging our partners.E xcellence: We promote quality outcomes through learning & continuous performance improvement.Where You Will Work:Broward CountyThe Benefits of Working for the State of Florida:Working for the State of Florida is more than a paycheck.
