SpecialistHiring Salary/Salary Range: $18,000 - $25,900 annuallyPosition Number: 00058370Schedule: Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings with flexibility required, on campusORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine provides clinical care at Tampa General Hospital across three sites (a Level 1 trauma center and two free-standing emergency departments), representing over 120,000 patient encounters per year with over 40 faculty members. Outpatient clinical services continue to expand in addiction and primary care sports medicine. The three-year USF EM residency program began in 2003 and graduates 10 residents per year with a board pass rate of 96%. USF EM is highly integrated into undergraduate medical education. USF EM operates a robust acute care research program and clinical, research, and education programs in EMS, Social EM, Ultrasound, Sports Medicine, Toxicology, Healthcare Administration Leadership and Management (HALM), and Simulation. USF EM provides post-graduate fellowship training in EMS, simulation, ultrasound, and HALM. USF EM faculty provide leadership for Florida Poison Control, City of Tampa Fire Rescue, Pinellas County EMS, TGH Interfacility Transport/Aeromedical Services, CAMLS, and the Florida Center for EMS, as well as coverage of the NFL, NHL, and many local events.POSITION SUMMARY:The Human Services Program Specialist will provide intake and associated administrative services to the patients of Tampa Bay Street Medicine, continuity clinic and refugee clinic including scheduling appointments for initial visit as well as for referrals for diagnostic services, registration, and patient follow-up. This position requires evening and weekend hours as well as fluency in both Spanish and English.This position requires evening and weekend hours as well as fluency in both Spanish and English. Attends Wednesday evening refugee clinics twice monthly and Saturday morning homeless clinic twice monthly.RESPONSIBILITIES:Schedules patient appointments; determines patient eligibility; coordinates and schedules referrals; conducts patient appointment reminder calls; attends Wednesday evening refugee clinics twice monthly and Saturday morning homeless clinic, twice monthly to manage patient check-in.Manages patient referrals and faxes imaging referrals to appropriate Radiology services,. Follows up to ensure necessary appointments are scheduled; specialist referrals are working with attending providers.Monitors TBSM phone calls daily and responds to routine questions, patient request for appointments, enrollment questions, and processes refill requests.Coordinates appointments and ensures patients keep their appointments. Ensures all patient documents are scanned into assigned electronic medical record (EMR).Works with community organizations/partners such as Catholic Charities, Lutheran Services and Radiant Hands to offer patient resources for food, rent, addiction care; accepts and processes referrals to TBSM and refugee clinic for medical care.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM:This position requires a high school diploma and four years of related experience.
